ALTERRA FINANCIAL STRENGTH RATINGS UPGRADED TO ´A´ BY S&P

Citing our "strong competitive position based on a larger and enhanced operating platform" and "strong" enterprise risk management, on November 16, 2011 S&P raised "the financial strength and counterparty credit ratings on the core companies of Alterra Capital to ‘A’ from ‘A-’ and the counterparty credit ratings on Alterra Capital Holdings and intermediate holding companies to ‘BBB+’ from ‘BBB’. " Outlook is Stable."
